Herne Bay in Bloom
Herne Bay's place in Britain in Bloom
Britain in Bloom is one of the largest horticultural campaigns in Europe with the year round aim of creating a more beautiful Britain.
Entrants compete against each other within their area and then selected communities are nominated to compete against each other in the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) finals. Britain in Bloom encourages all to make the UK a more beautiful place to live through imaginative planting, cleanliness, sustainability and community effort.
The Herne Bay in Bloom committee are proud of how hard its members and supporters have worked in delivering this year’s campaign. The Herne Bay in Bloom Committee has responded to the judges’ comments from previous years, and has been busy addressing these issues. The aim of the committee for 2012 is to improve, develop and promote the Herne Bay in Bloom campaign as fully as possible. A range of projects were identified that builds on previous successes to support the aims of the scheme and a work plan was set in place.
The council’s Community Development and Outdoor Leisure, and Street Scene sections have provided support to the committee.
Kent County Council added their backing this year to the campaign by providing barrier troughs and bollard planters for the town centre.
Once again this year Serco Ltd have got fully behind the competition and sponsored Herne Bay in Bloom to the tune of £4,000.
