THE GIANT PICNIC IS BACK!

A number of local community groups, being led by Herne Bay in Bloom, have got together to organise a second special giant picnic featuring live music and a host of free family activities at the Memorial Park on Bank Holiday Sunday as part of the Herne Bay festival.

Featuring Sambapelomar, Ian Petrie Band, David Shepherd, Red Wheelies, Invicta Concert Band, Dizzy O’Dare Street Theatre, and much, much more...

So pack your picnic, blanket and umbrella (for the sun!) and get involved in this wonderful celebration of Herne Bay. Take part in fun activities, sign up to be a volunteer, listen to live bands and learn more about Herne Bay groups.

You will be able to:

• Create your own piece of art 
• Play a game of rounders
• Got a problem in the garden? Local gardening enthusiasts will be on hand to answer your questions. Bring your poorly plants
• Help to make heart cushions for breast cancer patients
• Bring your old vinyls and have them played by a local DJ
• Join in a community sing-song

All activities are FREE

And while you are having your picnic you can listen to the sounds of the acclaimed Invicta Concert Band whose members are drawn mainly from Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable, Thanet and the neighbouring villages. There will also be a seven-piece band (I have no name yet) playing a selection of songs for you to boogie along to.

There will also be a chance to take part in a workshop and performance with the Whitstable Samba Band!

The Giant Picnic will take place on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday weekend.
